2015 Recap (according to random iphone photos)

Alas, another year is over. I never thought I’d be 25 years old, well I knew I would be, just felt like it was 5… 3… 2 years away… TWENTY-FIVE years old. Half way to 50..Now that the year of that age is over, I feel like im almost ready to say I’m in my late twenties. ouch. I still have 6 months til it fully ends so I’ll stop being so dramatic. In the mean time, HAPPY NEW YEARS!! Now starts the couple months of having to change the “5” to a “6” when you sign the date. Luckily its an easy fix, without truly needing white-out.

I want to recap 2015 with those random iPhone photos that never got posted somewhere, but still help sum-up the timeline of the year. These photos deserve internet space too… and might free up some space on my phone in return.

–JANUARY–IMG_2414IMG_2406It’s no surprise I spent January climbing on the weekends. The weather is usually delightfully bearable in the winter, and if you chase the sun, we love it out there.

IMG_2504Participated in a boulder competition with Tim.

IMG_2402Remember the random iphone photos thing i was just talking about? This is where it kicks it.

–FEBRUARY–IMG_2519In February I watched the super bowl with my cousin and baby Jax. Seahawks lost.

IMG_2533Moved into a new office for work. Big change from our old offices.

IMG_2542AND realized what a great idea the office move was because of the things we found by the dumpsters at our old office.

IMG_2574Visited some beautiful friends in Utah.

IMG_2583Experimented with some scrap vinyl from work, and actually liked it.

IMG_2658It also snowed in Red Rock in February! (photo cred: Tim Eichholz)

–MARCH–IMG_2724IMG_2729Early in March my sister, her kids, and I went to visit my grandpa and let him tell us about his new projects.

IMG_2765Female Foodie and friend Brooke came to visit and we ate Thai food and saw some transvestites dance in the parking lot.

 IMG_2787got new gear!

IMG_2802Dad got a new knee and practically ran out of that place.

IMG_2827IMG_2823Braved Mnt. Charleston with Tim and Shadow a little early in the year.

–APRIL–IMG_2859In April we got this horrendous picture taken of us at my families annual Easter picnic.

FullSizeRenderThis happened.

IMG_2883I saw a desert tortoise in its natural habitat for the first time in April, after that I saw a couple more throughout the year and geeked out every time.

IMG_2913My parents’ Hispanic neighbors threw a ‘low-key’ party next door, leaving the cul de sac COMPLETELY full of parked cars. I found it hilarious.

IMG_2984Was a bridesmaid for muh girl Regan in April. Spent the whole afternoon/evening avoiding a down pour of rain seconds after this photo was taken. It was a blast, even with the rain.

–MAY–IMG_3016This dumb website arose in May and made me re-think using wrinkle cream.

IMG_3028Mothers day got crazy.

IMG_3082Tim’s sister Kelley performed on TV with her dance company in NYC.

IMG_3095Tim was about a month into the fire academy at this point, he still tried his hardest to hang out with me and go about his regular life, but there was a lot of this^ going on while we drove around town or to and from Charleston/Red Rock. TROOPER!

–JUNE–IMG_3130This happened and it was cute.

IMG_3143Took a Maple Canyon climbing trip around my birthday weekend. It rained a lot, and  shadow was sopping wet the entire time and didn’t care one bit.

IMG_3154Coolest birthday gift.

IMG_3160Spent some hot summer evenings at Lather & Shave at the park.

IMG_3177Dumpster dove for a table I still haven’t done anything with.

IMG_3188Are you sick of these climbing pictures yet?

IMG_3216Used my communities pool for the first time In the whole year I’ve lived there.

IMG_3231Attended Downtown Podcast with some frenzzz.

IMG_3260Cleaned out my garage and found these goodies.

IMG_3267..and summer storms began.

–JULY–IMG_3361Too much cuteness not to share on our second Maple Canyon trip of the summer on 4th of July weekend.

IMG_3422Saw Bye Bye Birdie at Spring Mnt Ranch outdoor theater and saw Sydney (Tim’s cousin and my neighbor) dance and squeal over Conrad Birdie. She Killed it.

IMG_3618Roadtripped to Utah for my family reunion on the 24th of July.

IMG_3690All my siblings together after many years apart.

IMG_3654And all my way too grown up nephews. Bunch o’ studs.

IMG_3384July showers brought… epic rainbows.

IMG_3970August got REAL hot.

IMG_4105Tim graduated from the Fire Academy after months of intense physical and mental work in the heat of summer. His family and I got to attend the graduation at City Hall.

IMG_4159Locked my keys in the car at church.

IMG_4258Hiked in the evenings.

IMG_4180And got coached on some yoga by Shadow.

End of summer shimmy.

–SEPTEMBER–IMG_4324In September I rearranged my room to shake things up.

IMG_4287I attempted to be domestic.

IMG_4436Tried my hand at macrame for my window.

IMG_4663Ended September with a day trip to Kolob, UT Namaste Wall.

–OCTOBER–IMG_4758I started a weekly VLOG earlier in the summer as a creative outlet I was unfamiliar with. Kept it up for about 6 months, had lots of fun in the process. I have since stopped doing it, but plan on doing others in the future for major trips/events.

IMG_4939Attended secret art exhibit.

IMG_4968Was customer 1,2, & 3 at In-n-out. That was a first.

IMG_4861Unfortunately in October I figured out my name it a lot like this cream if you say it fast. (which I’ve never used, obviously) “LoriTruman”…”Lotrimin” haha

IMG_5059Was a mermaid at a boulder competition.

IMG_5092The highlight of the year was probably dad being Elton John for Halloween. Already brainstorming for next year.

–NOVEMBER–IMG_5137In November I got my climbing shoes re-soled and was pleasantly surprised with how well I liked them!

IMG_5169Collected LOTS of wood from the pallets by the dumpsters at work.

IMG_5176Attended an art festival and food truck festival in the same Saturday as well as saw live music by local band Brumby.

IMG_5196I expanded my knowledge about menstrual cups. Yes, I still love them and find them life changing.

IMG_5275Roasted marshmallows in my parents backyard Thanksgiving weekend.

–DECEMBER–IMG_5337In the beginning of December I was surprised with this log reindeer made by someone in my fab shop that left it on my desk. I still don’t know who made it for me. Sneaky secret santa.

IMG_5409Was invited by some friends to attend a “Tuesdays at Justins” dinner night. An old friend attended culinary school in France, so now he takes Tuesdays to share his talents and keep up with his food making skills. It was SO fancy and SO delicious.

IMG_5470Star Wars on Christmas Eve. I personally LOVED it. Ray is the baddest chick in all the galaxy. And Kerry Fisher is still beautiful despite her lip jobs and wrinkles. Kylo Ren is hot… judge me. Watch GIRLS.

IMG_5439The US-95 people think they’re funny.

IMG_5329Remember that wood I collected back in November? Used almost all of it for some Christmas gifts.

IMG_5465Which I snuck into Tims house.

IMG_5371And for a headboard for my parents.

IMG_5495To end the year I had a group of 8 Utah friends come to climb in Red Rock. They stayed for New years and hiked, climbed, slept, ate.. repeat and barely realized we switched years in the middle.

I didn’t want to end this with a sappy ode to resolutions, or lack of keeping resolutions, yadda yadda.. But I’m always excited by the idea of a New Year to gain new ideas and inspirations and to get excited for all the different holidays all over again.

Bye 2015. Hello 2016.

2015 Recap (according to random iphone photos)

Me and Em ringin in the new year

Does anyone else find it incredibly insane to be able to say that we are living in the year 2012?
wow. I remember when getting the spice girls cassette tape was as good as it got.. in about 1995. Technology blows my mind.
I know this is a little late, but i had to share my New Years Eve activities.
Jerilyn, Emily, (new friends from utah), and I got sushi to begin the evening. and of course it was delicious as ever.
Em and I can go months without seeing eachother and it puts no dent in our friendship. We hit up an annual dance party that was pretty decent. And had quite a few mormons from the valley attend. We like to get our freak on, so we had to go for a bit at least.
we did a disturbing photoshoot at stop lights.
fav photo of the night for obvious reasons
Then we drove out to the edge of town so we could see all the fireworks in the whole valley
as well as see the ones Blake and Eldon put on
kinda looks like the buildings are on fire
lookin in a tunnel
wing women
I’d be lying if i said New Years Eve wasnt overrated at least a little. But I will tell you this much, every NYE is completely different than how i think it will. Therefore always providing a surprise in one way or another. And spending it with Emily was exactly what i needed.
Since then, i’ve already come back up to Logan, and took a trip to Rexburg as well. That town.. oh man, just provides so much material. ya know what i mean? Anyway, BYUI actually is a really awesome campus, and i see why people go there.
This is me when i had to say goodbye to Emily.. couldnt hold back the tears. haaaaa kidding, this is us at New Fong’s (a chinese restaurant)
I really am not ready for school to start up again, but the sooner it starts the sooner summer will be here again. yes please.
Happy New Year to you and your kin
Me and Em ringin in the new year

Dude, Its Christmas Eve.

It has been like every other Christmas Eve. I make that sound like its not a good thing.. but let me assure its a great thing. It goes a little like this. In-n-out. Movie. dinner. PJ’s/pictures. Christmas movie before bed. Welcome to Christmas Eve with the Truman’s.
It looks so much better to have 4 people, instead of just 3.
We decided to see Sherlock Holmes this Xmas eve. Jerilyn joined the festivities, we got to the theater a tid early which resulted in…
nap time…
for Mr. and Mrs. Claus. adorable.
after the fantastic movie (i highly recommend Sherlock to you all) we took a last minute shopping trip to the Ghettos Meadows Mall. I actually enjoyed watching people running around getting cologne or nikes for gifts for the big day. Then we enjoyed a meal with my cousins and played Just Dance 3 til we sweat off dinner.
Catherina and I got in our matching pj’s and enjoyed the ambiance of a room filled with lights from a tree alone.
and topped the night off with Sleepless in Seattle. What else could you want from Christmas Eve?
Well, maybe this. Thanks to a good friend of mine, I fount out that The Killers write a Christmas song every year. They’re all pretty great. So please indulge:
2010 song.. really creative. watch it.
2011 this year, humorous.
2006 I think. My fav.
I’m already feeling like I wont be able to fall asleep tonight. I’m an adult.. some things never change.
Dude, Its Christmas Eve.

Week of Gratitude

This right here is going to be all about the past week, that i’m going to smash into one post. This being because i’m a busy female. Although a lot of stuff has happened, many of the events actually all coordinate to be all things i’m grateful for this year.  In order of occurence, lets do this.
I’M GRATEFUL FOR: Chad Hogan’s party
in a nut shell {a very popular comedian based in Britain created a joke about American parties and used a random American name (that being “Chad Hogan”) as his example of who threw this hypothetical American party. A lot of his followers are from Scotland and find this joke to be HILARIOUS.. So Scottish people found my friend (Chad Hogan) from Logan, UT who goes to Utah State, and started adding him on facebook. nut shell being shorter, BBC contacted Chad Hogan and asked if they could come film an episode of his tv show at his house while having a party} pretty hilarious right? If you want to know more about this joke go HERE.. its the actually joke, that i dont really find funny, but whaterr.
scene from the party. it was awkward because there were cameras and really bright lights outside the house and inside camera men. We tried to act natural but at times it was impossible to not act different when the camera was around.
met a dude friend with similar shoes. not  many guys try and pull off boots. props to you stranger who i thought was named Trey the whole night.. but really is Seth. I’M GRATEFUL FOR: The NBA being back, so i can torment the Jazz fans just cuz.
I’M GRATEFUL FOR: friendships, and pre-Thanksgiving dinners with these friends. The friends that last, and every time you hang out with them you realize why you became friends from the beginning. Not only people that came to this dinner but many, many others. Friendships that give you inspiration or help you be a better you. Cheers to friends.
We had a small group over for a pre-thanksgiving dinner, and it turned out incredibly well. So delicious, and good conversation with good people.
tons of laughs, obvi.
we had a discussion of how many people put whipped cream on their cranberry sauce.. apparently its just me. Do any of you also do this?
I got home for the break, and was able to celebrate Brandeis’ birthday. I’m grateful for cousins, and cousin-in laws.
Now for the real deal. The 24th of Nov blessed us with wonderful weather. So we set up all the tables outside.
I’M GRATEFUL FOR: Las Vegas weather, family that i rarely get to see, and the ones i see all the time, Jeff’s mashed potato recipe, and Sister Goronson’s pies.
I’M EXTREMELY GRATEFUL FOR: the little sister I always wanted, and her being from a far away foreign land, so we get to experience simple American things all over again through her. Oh and her putting up with us, and how crazy we are. AND, how she brings travel and culture to me, when i can’t be physically doing it right now.
oh the weather. delicious.
I’M GRATEFUL FOR: art and the outlet it provides me. Also, education and the opportunity I have to attend a college and take art classes, even though at times I want to stab my professors, I know in the long haul its all for my own artistic growth. The garage I stole for my studio for the weekend.
thursday night mom, Katy, Catherina, and I ventured out to stores for black friday. Were out til 2:30 a.m. and crazy loopy by the time we were done. BUT, i felt so proud of myself, because I requested a song on the new jelli station in LV while we were waiting for Target to open and it came on! I’m enjoying my grunge 90’s kick lately.
I’M GRATEFUL FOR: music. which is an obvious one for a lot of people. but it means so much to me. i’m grateful that the song ‘while my guitar gently weeps’ by Martin Luther McCoy is blowing my mind right now.
as the weekend came to a close I got yogurt and looked at the beginning of the Christmas lights with my old friends Shelby and Matthew.
All of this week got me so pumped for winter break.
Since i’m here and all i thought i’d list a couple more things…
Jesus Christ
Odilon Redon (especially his book to Himself)
Across the Universe
mum and dad
Adobe Suite
post its
waterproof boots
my cadillac
hot tubs
Robyn being Canadian
No shave November (for obvious reasons)
TopShop coming to Vegas
live music
cottage cheese
sports (especially UNLV’s win this weekend)
I swear i thought of 5 guhzillion things on the drive back to Logan today, but I guess it will just have to wait til next year. Hope your week was full of thanks, and giving. Now, let my final projects go by fast and smoothly. love you all.
Week of Gratitude

Liverpool, Russia, Zambia

I’m gonna lay it out for you guys. This past weekend was a
ROLLER COASTER: Of fantastic, and overwhelm. I was really excited to go home for my buddies mission farewell, and to hang out with familia, etc. I left Logan at 5 a.m. and was feeling SO GOOD, ready for an amazing drive whilst being left with my thoughts and my music, and my beverages of choice. And was going to get home at a really decent time so I’d have another day in my city.
THEN, Priscilla (my car of almost 3 years) DIED on me. I was 13 miles out of Filmore, and she took her last breath.
So I chillaxed on the side of the highway while Priscilla was in between the merging lane and the right hand lane.
like so..
Luckily it was pretty warm out, and not snowing or other nonsense weather that Utah gives us. Blessing #1
I got a tow, never had to do that before. But it went very smoothly. Blessing#2
For about the next 5 hours I hung out with men of this sort.. really kind, old cute small town types. Blessing #3
then I had to say goodbye, which was sorta weird. You know what i mean when I say you get attached to cars.
Memories in this BEAUT. gotta check out this one, & the beaver incident, & here, lastly, the beginning.
Since I didnt have transportation I got to take the shuttle from Filmore all the way to Vegas. Luckily I hadnt missed it yet. Blessing #4  But I had a crap load of stuff from my car that i had to clean out. I looked like a traveling Gypsy. The locals HAD to have thought there was something wrong with me.
In fact I had plenty of time to explore Filmore. Which is basically one street
When i finally got on the shuttle, things started looking up. I met an amazing girl that is transferring to USU next semester and we had great talks about traveling and  why Utah State is FANTASTIC. We plan on keeping in contact and maybe even living together next semester.
A car dies, but a friend is born. ha  Blessing #5
Then I got on my second shuttle in St. George. I met some really intriguing amazing people.   A lady from Liverpool, England. A man from Russia, and a kid from Zambia.
They all had the coolest stories to tell and i was just eating it all up.
Lady from Liverpool Story:
Her husband used to work for Paul McCartney’s father way back in the day. One day her husband heard Paul downstairs in the house, and asked if he could go meet him and his other children, etc. Paul’s father said, “uh, yeah i guess so… I don’t think Paul will go very far in life…”
Little did he know.
Russian Man’s Story:
This man was in St. George for the Senior Olympics and had been traveling all over the world for this senior Olympics. Apparently he’s a big deal in the games as a swimmer. I was intrigued.
Zambia boys story:
This kid was who i sat next to, and he told me about how he was adopted by a soldier from Michigan when he was 12, and it now 21. But that in Zambia he was beat by his family and considered sort of a slave on the farm he worked on. Now, his inspiration is Michael Jackson, and travels the U.S. to dance, and is trying to make it big in the Dance world. Next stop: Miami.
The whole trip became worth it through meeting these people, when i wouldnt have met them and had these personal conversations other wise. Brought me joy when I was having a rough day.
When i finally made it home i was welcomed by my parents telling me we were going to finally get the exchange student we had been waiting for. I was ECSTATIC!! and once again thought to myself how could this weekend get better considering the circumstances of Thursday, but they absolutely did.
Vegas sunsets make the most beautiful treat. Almost looks like cotton candy. But my favorite part is the reflection of the rich pinks and purples in the gutter water. Simple, but I love it. blessing #6
Saturday was pumpkin carving party day. We had chili and corn bread and family and friends over.
MEET: CATHERINA!! She is my Italian sister. This was her first time carving a pumpkin. Oh, and earlier in the day we got her, her first slurpee. I love spending time with her, and learning things about her culture and life. It never gets old to me, I can never stop learning. BLESSING #7
One of my besties Kat came and joined in the festivities.
Jack Skellington, king of the pumpkin patch.
Brandeis and Jeri, Melina and Jeff and the kids also joined.
After this crazy weekend of new and unexpected events, i had to say goodbye and head back up to school. Catherina already feels like a sister of mine. The little sister I never had:D
Oh i never told you guys how i’m getting up to school .. well i inherited the Cadillac in our household. Blessing #8. Her name is Cruella the Flow Rider. I like her. Even though i feel sorta like a granny in her. OR! like a thug. More so the latter, because DUH, i’m a thug at heart.
couldnt believe the view driving back up. The lighting was so beautiful, and picturesque. I had to share it with you guys. blessing #9. So even though the trip started in an unfortunate way, i was blessed so much and everything fell into better place than i could even imagine. Last day of shorts mix coming soon…

There are TONS of perks to living in the desert over the summer.
 Swimming weather 24 hours.
Monsoon season, which results in a lot of rain, and the delicious smell of fresh water on hot pavement.
could i get an amen if you feel me?
But one of my favorite .. and i mean FAVORITE things in this life, is
Summer nights in the desert.
scenes from Independence Day. The 4th of July if you will. In the desert lighting stuff up.
you can barely catch a glimpse of the ear to ear grin on my face. Love this country. Love this City. Love the nighttime.
The night is known for its darkness. And i respect that about it all. I mean, we gotta sleep in the ‘dark’… but I adore how you are never truly in the dark in this city. Street light. cars. buildings.
windows always down.
some may not appreciate it because you cant see the stars. And yes, i miss the stars from time to time. But i cant help but be addicted to these stars. May be man-made, but they are beautiful.
Live and Acoustic. The sweet lullaby to summer nights 2011. This song genuinely gives me chills, even when its 90 degrees outside at 12:37 at night.
desert summer nights
can’t shake it til you’ve tried it

Its that time again.

Legacy of Letters from Luca Barcellona on Vimeo.

Indulge in this video.
I watched and loved this.. it was almost soothing how amazing he was, and how badly i want to learn how to do calligraphy.

On a more relevant note.
I hope you all enjoy your time with your loved ones on Christmas!!!
I miss Christmas’s with these children here:
.. but they arent children anymore.. they’re my older siblings.
This was a Christmas before i was born.
Wish they were here!

But im so happy to be in Vegas with my parents.. they are amazing people:D

Merry Christmas to all!

Its that time again.
