I regret not writing about Adam Driver sooner. By now, almost everyone recognizes him from his recent role as Kylo Ren in the newest Star Wars: The Force Awakens but before that he was my little kept secret who I obsessed over. From his indie movie roles, Frances Ha or Tracks to the hit HBO show GIRLS, he is one of the most unique, and enjoyable performers I’ve ever seen.
Prior to acting, Adam served in the military. Since his acting career has taken off he founded the organization AITAF (Arts in the Armed Forces) basically ‘bringing the best modern American theater to the military free of charge.’ Check out the video VICE put together showing some of what AITAF does. I found it incredibly inspiring and an exciting alternative on how a movie-star has given back to the armed force community.
